Before You Buy

Semi-mounts and settings, set at our bench

A setting is the ring without its centre stone — the mount you choose first when you already have a diamond, or when you want to choose the stone separately rather than buy the two together. Solitaires, halos, cathedrals and bezels, in platinum or gold.

Setting the stone is bench work, and the bench is here. Bring a diamond you already own, one you have inherited, or one we source for you, and we will set it while you wait where the setting allows it.

Common Questions
What is a semi-mount?

A ring that is complete except for its centre stone. The side stones are already set; the centre is left open so a diamond can be chosen or reused.

Can you set a diamond I already own?

Yes, and it is common — an inherited stone, or one from a ring that is no longer worn. We will check the stone first and tell you if it needs attention before it is reset.

Can a setting be made to order?

Yes. Made-to-order rings are usually ready in about three weeks, designed and finished at our bench in La Jolla.
