Why sell it here
We travel far and wide to buy diamonds direct from the source — so we know exactly what yours is worth.

Because we buy and sell diamonds every day, we read a stone quickly and fairly — the cut, color, clarity and carat that decide its value. We value the piece as a whole: the center stone, the diamonds around it and the metal it's set in. No deceptive 80%-off games, just honest value.

Whether it's a piece that no longer fits your life or one you've inherited, we'll appraise it with care and discretion. Bring it in for a free, no-obligation appraisal, or send photos and details and we'll give you an honest estimate from a distance.

In More Detail

Diamond buyers who grade the stone in front of you

A diamond's value is cut, colour, clarity and carat — in roughly that order of how much it changes the number, which is not the order most people expect. Two one-carat stones can differ several times over in price. We look at yours with a loupe while you watch, explain what we are seeing, and show you where it sits.

A GIA report helps and we will read it with you. Not having one is common and not a problem: we grade the stone ourselves, and we buy plenty of pieces that never had paperwork.

Rings, estate pieces and inherited jewelry

Much of what comes to us was inherited, and the honest answer is often that the piece is worth more as it is than broken up — a period setting, a signed piece, or an old cut that would be expensive to replicate. We will tell you when that is the case even though it means a smaller purchase for us, because it is the difference between a buyer and someone taking advantage of a difficult week.

If you are selling after a divorce or a bereavement, there is no hurry from our side. A free appraisal tells you what you have; deciding what to do about it can wait as long as you need.

Common Questions
Do I need a GIA certificate to sell a diamond?

No. Certified or not, we grade the stone ourselves and explain what we see. A report makes the conversation quicker; it does not decide whether we are interested.

What is my diamond ring worth?

Cut, colour, clarity and carat set the stone's value, and the setting is priced separately as metal and workmanship. What a piece originally retailed for is a poor guide — resale and retail are different markets.

Do you buy small or lower-quality diamonds?

Yes, including melee and stones in damaged settings. Not every diamond is worth much on its own, and we'll say so, but it is worth finding out rather than assuming.

Can I sell an engagement ring you didn't make?

Of course — most of what we buy came from somewhere else. Where it was bought makes no difference to what it is worth today.

Can I sell diamond jewelry remotely?

If you're not in San Diego, you can start with photos. We'll give you a preliminary number, and if you'd like to go ahead you ship the piece to us insured; once our experts have inspected it and the sale is final, payment goes out right away.
