Selling Options for Your Jewelry

If you have jewelry you’d like to sell, educating yourself can make the difference between being happy about what you get and being disappointed. So, I’ve put together this blog post with a few ideas for you. Think about your particular situation, and these thoughts might really help you to get the most out of your sale.

There are a number of ways to change your jewelry into money. You may want to see if you can find a jeweler or other merchant who will accept your jewelry on consignment. Essentially, consignment is a process where someone sells your jewelry using their storefront, site, or customer base. They keep a percentage of the sale price and give you the difference. See if that makes sense in your area.

Alternatively, sell to a jeweler or pawnbroker. This means quick money. You won’t get as much as you will from consignment, at least not ordinarily. The money comes quickly, though, so if you just want the transaction to be done, it’s a good way to make it happen. In general, a jeweler is a better choice than a pawn broker because jewelry is their business and so they’ll have a better appreciation for what you have.

Sell it yourself. This is an important thing to consider. You can sell to friends and family, if that’s something they might be interested in. You can also post them in classifieds such as Craigslist or Facebook classified or NextDoor. Just remember to follow all safety guidelines. Selling online and handling the transaction through an escrow company can be an excellent choice as well.

Remember if you’re going to sell them directly, you should make sure to Clean and polish the jewelry. Enhancing its appearance can maximize its value. Keep original packaging. This can increase the desirability and value, especially for designer brands. In fact, that’s true no matter who you sell to.

If you explore my blog, you’ll find a lot of advice about selling jewelry. If you’re looking for a sale for cash, give me a call or drop by my La Jolla showroom. You’ll be glad you did.
