Celebrate with the New Rolex Oyster Perpetual “Bubbles”

I just don’t understand why many people think of Rolex as a stuffy brand. A lot of people treat this iconic company like its ultra-conservative and mired in ideas about design that might keep it in the forefront of mechanical timepiece technology but also keep it far from the forefront when it comes to fashion and aesthetics.

I guess for me, the question I want to ask people who believe that is this: Have you been living under a rock in the bottom of the ocean???

Rolex is constantly innovative and consistently pushes the envelope with style. How about palm fronds on a dial? How about color schemes that inspire names like The Hulk and Pepsi? Or (and this is a big one) how about breaking the internet with a series of colorful dials for watches that were (prior to 2020) essentially nothing more than entry level Rolexes, starter watches so to speak.

That’s what Rolex did with the Oyster Perpetual. Now, it commemorates that wildly successful design choice with a watch that includes all of the colors. This “Celebration” dial has already been dubbed the Rolex Bubbles. Differently sized bubbles (pink, yellow, coral red, and green) float on a background of turquoise blue.

The Bubbles comes in three sizes. 31mm (reference 277200), 36mm (reference 126000), and 41mm (Reference 142300.) The watch represents a bold statement, really. Some might think the design is a little too wild or frivolous.  I don’t think so. I think the design says quite clearly that a person can enjoy the fine luxury of a Rolex watch without being caught up in some sort of self-aggrandizing sense of perfect propriety.

But that’s just my two cents. I’ve said for many years that jewelry is a personal thing reflecting personal choices, personal relationships, and personal fashion sense. I think the Rolex Bubbles is a beautiful watch, and I think it is perfect for casual wear or for a splash of color with an all-black or all-white outfit. Of course, if someone finds joy wearing a tie-dye tuxedo, that’s perfectly wonderful too.

If your sense of style has you searching for a pre-owned Rolex in San Diego, why not stop by our showroom in La Jolla. We can help you find the Rolex that’s perfect for you. Give us a call or just show up. You’ll be glad you did!
