What Rolex has done with its Oyster Perpetual line over the last few years is pretty remarkable. From the colored dials a few years back to the more recent bubble dial, the playfulness of this particular model makes it exciting to Rolex enthusiasts. This year is no exception. The 2025 Rolex Oyster Perpetual line features new dials with unique and exciting characteristics.
Specifically, the 36mm stainless steel version introduces a blue dial with white gold hour markers. Add to that Chromalight hands. (Chromalight is a proprietary photoluminescent material Rolex uses for glow-in-the-dark luminescence.) Additionally, Rolex is expanding the Oyster Perpetual's dial options. So now, you can get lacquered dials in pastel hues like lavender, beige, and pistachio. These come with a matte finish. This new blue dial option for the reference 126000 features a minimalist design with white gold hour markers and hands.
With the Chromalight luminescence for clear readability, the watch is striking and beautiful regardless of the minimalist approach. I really love how the lacquered dials are produced in soft, muted pastel colors like lavender, beige, and pistachio. This adds to the playfulness a new and sophisticated aesthetic to the dials. I think the matte finish makes a big difference. To me, it adds a great deal of elegant gravitas. Yes, I know gravitas seems a strange word to describe the most playful of the Rolex watches but I can’t help it. There is import in this design.
