Do you know each other’s history? Transparency is important in a relationship. If you or your partner hesitates to discuss your past in full detail, it shows lack of trust. If you still don’t trust your partner at this stage in your relationship, how can you be ready to pop the question? If you do fully know her history, be honest with yourself: Are you okay with her past? Is she okay with yours? All cards should be on the table, and both parties should have the freedom to make an informed decision if they want to spend the rest of their lives together.
Do you have a healthy relationship that includes family and friends, or does your significant other ask you to give up certain relationships because of his or her insecurity? Jealousy or possessive traits may seem cute at first because your partner wants you all to herself, but in the long run, you will be isolated and caving in to her demands if you allow her insecurity to take over. Make sure that both you and your significant other are emotionally healthy before you enter a lifelong partnership together. Marriage is a beautiful thing, and if done the right way, it can be a foretaste of heaven on earth.
